Are presented: antique objects, facsimiles, representations of Gallic warriors and Roman legionaries, diorama, films, models, multimedia terminals, reconstructions of war machines, model of the site of the Battle of Alesia ...
On the contiguous site of 6,500 m2, landscaped by the landscape architect Michel Desvigne, were reconstructed over a hundred meters double Roman fortifications (circumvallation and countervallation) preceded by a glacis, with watchtowers and defense, ditches, embankment, rampart, siege weapons (catapult and scorpio), palisade and spiked traps (cippi) restored life size:
- The 15 km internal fortification line that blocked the Gauls on Mount Auxois (contrevallation)
- The 21 km external fortification line which protected the Romans from an external attack by the rescue army (circumvallation) "

Outre le siège de 52 av. J.-C. et son contexte, l'évolution de la représentation du Gaulois dans l'imaginaire collectif, l'instrumentalisation d'Alésia et de Vercingétorix, la création et la déconstruction du mythe identitaire qu'ils ont nourri, ainsi que la succession des civilisations sur le site y seront développées.
Ce musée consacré au siège d'Alésia est inauguré le 26 mars 2012 dans un bâtiment cylindrique de 1 200 m2, 52 m de diamètre, entièrement vitré, du cabinet d'architectes Bernard Tschumi urbanistes Architectes.
Sont présentés : objets antiques, fac-similés, représentations de guerriers gaulois et de légionnaires romains, diorama, films, maquettes, bornes multimédia, reconstitutions de machines de guerre, maquette du site de la bataille d'Alésia ...
Sur le site extérieur contiguë de 6 500 m2, aménagé par le paysagiste Michel Desvigne, ont été reconstitués sur une centaine de mètres les doubles fortifications romaines (circonvallation et contrevallation) précédées d'un glacis, avec tours de guet et de défense, fossés, remblai, rempart, armes de siège (catapulte et scorpio), palissade et pièges hérissés de pointes (cippi) restitués grandeur nature :
- La ligne de fortification intérieure de 15 km qui bloquait les Gaulois sur le mont Auxois (contrevallation)
- La ligne de fortification extérieure de 21 km qui protégeait les Romains d'une attaque extérieure par l'armée de secours (circonvallation) "
