The only Woodmen of the World headstone in Oakridge Cemetery, this tree trunk monument was one of the nicest discoveries I've come across. Foliage was growing over the tree trunk and it fit very well in its surroundings.
Inscription:
PARSON G.
GLEASON
BORN OCT. 21, 1870,
DIED APR. 6, 1898.
TO HIM THAT OVERCOMETH:
A CROWN OF LIFE SHALL BE,
HE WITH THE KING OF GLORY,
SHALL REIGN ETERNALLY.
The above quote is from the Book of Revelations in the Holy Bible.
The Findagrave.com website for Gleason states: "Stone erected by Woodsmen of the World. 1880 US Census lists Parson living with his parents Irving E. and Melissa E. Gleason along with siblings Marietta M., Marybelle M., Isora E., Parson and U. Sherman. Also living in the residence was Addie Longsworth, school teacher. They lived in Sublimity, Marion, Oregon."
