For quite a few years in the past, Dairy Queens partially disappeared in Oklahoma. There were about ten in the whole state. From Oklahoma City, we would drive 50 miles to Chickasha for a Blizzard. But in the last several years, they have begun popping up again in the OKC area.
The Dairy Queen in Okmulgee is one that has been around forever. This is an independently owned DQ which we were told was established in Okmulgee almost 75 years ago. We made a point to stop in for supper after a long day of Waymarking. And our meal was topped off with a Butterfinger Blizzard. Yum!
