This poor little turtle was crossing the very wide, asphalt Spring Creek Trail when I spotted him. At time this can be a very busy trail with cyclists, walkers, runners, and dogs, all possible dangers to a turtle if you're not paying attention.
The poor little thing stopped and retreated to his shell when he heard/felt me coming. I gently picked him up and put him across the path (same direction he was facing) and across the webbing that lines the side of the trail. Now it was in shade, instead of the heat (it was about 90 degrees at the time I spotted it).
Spring Creek Trail is the new paved multi-use trail at Lake Arcadia, a very popular recreational area. On the day of my visit, hundreds of people were there, relaxing after the free Fishing Derby event held by the city.

Describe what happened. Example
"Mother Blanding had made her nest between the goldenrod and bluestem outside my window late last June.
By chance we were sitting on the porch when we noticed little blandings in the same location we had seen the mother take 2 months earlier."
