In 2017, Canada commemorated 150 years of confederation. The celebration was known as Canada 150. Many symbolic elements from Canada 150 are included in this new park. Generations from now, features in this park might be the only reminders of Canada 150.

I assume that the park's name is tribute to the alliance between the city of Ottawa, the government of Canada, the Canada Lands Company and the Algonquins of Ontario. The Canada Lands Company has created the new community of Wateridge Village on the land which was Canadian Forces Base Rockcliffe. The military air base was closed in the 1990s. This parkland was a parking lot for the CANEX retail outlet during the days of the air base.

Alliance Park is so new that it is not yet in the Ottawa municipal database.
