Varn Parks is just a short drive north of Flagler Beach. The eight-acre park offers wheelchair access to the beach, plus restrooms with outdoor showers. The ample parking includes ADA-compliant spaces. (Evidently the wheelchair access ramp to the beach was damaged due to the hurricane and was replaced with a steep stairway.)
Varn Park is an excellent spot for shorebird observation, as well as "line" birds, particularly scrub jays, that frequent overhead wires between the park north to the Matanzas Inlet. It is also a popular spot for surf fishing, and on most days fisherman can be seen casting for blues, whiting, flounder, and snapper, among others.
Hours are dawn to 11 p.m. Monday through Sunday
