Bloody Tanks Wash splits the mining town of Miami lengthwise. Prone to long periods of drought and occasional flash floods, the wash presented a challenge to the growing town which was founded in 1907. To solve the problem, the town purchased plans for a low arch concrete bridge from the Topeka Bridge & Iron Co. The design was drawn up by Daniel Luten and thus this is a Luten Arch Bridge. The design is a closed spandrel arch. It is anchored on either side of the sandy wash by concrete buttresses. This is one of several Luten arch bridges eventually used to ease traffic through town.
