Der Vogelsängertanz ist ein von dem Düsseldorfer Künstler Gert Kiessling geschaffener Bronzebrunnen, der nach der Altshtadtsanierung 1986 hier auf dem Alter Mark aufgestellt wurde. Der Brunnen erinnert an die schwer arbeitenden Mensehen in den Kupfer-höfen, insbesondere an die Ofenknechte, die darauf zu aehten hatten, dass die Feuer in den Sehmelzöfen gleichmäBig brannten und der Messingguss gelang. Die abgebildete Skulpturengruppe ist künstlerisch überhöht und
vermittelt eine fast tänzerisehe Leichtigkeit. Mühsal und Qual der täglichen Arbeit in den Kupferhöfen werden kaum erkennbar. Lediglich das in der Mitte des Brunnens ?ieBende Wasser verweist auf den dauernden und quälenden Durst der von groBer Hitze und ungesunden Metalldämpfen geplagten Ofenknechte.
Der den Vogelsjüngern oftmals und gerne naehgesagte Durst hat mit Trinkfreudigkeit oder gar Trinkfestigkeit im heutigen Sinne nichts gemein.
