G.C. Chatmas was the owner and operator of the Queen Theater when it opened in 1925. It burned to the ground in 1950 and was rebuilt and re-opened 2/26/1951. Last record found was from 1974, date closed unknown.

The first "talkie", the widely famed talking picture "Sweetie", made its premier at the Queen on Thursday Jan. 16, 1930.

The opening feature was "Branded" with Alan Ladd and Mona Freeman. Completely modern throughout, the tile front is beautifully illuminated with neon lighting. New cushioned seats were installed and there was seating for 454 patrons. Theater had both heating and air conditioning. Ownership of the new building was Mrs. F.B. Grant of Houston, and E.L. Williams was the manager. Architect for the new theater was Raymond F. Smith of Dallas.
