"The Wymondham memorial is twenty-two feet high and stands on a square base of blue Robinhood stone, on the site of which are cut in plain lettering the 142 names of the fallen men. Three steps form the foundation for the solid base bearing the names, and above the topmost step is the inscription, “In honoured memory of the men of Wymondham who fell in the Great War 1914-1919.” Surrounding the base is an obelisk of Portland stone, with a simple cross in relief on the eastern face. A laurel wreath surmounts the list of names on each face of the base. There are 143 names listed for World War 1 and 45 for World War 2 with 3 civilians for World War 2. The memorial was originally unveiled 24 July 1921. "
