The Kružberk Dam is the second largest hydroelectric dam in the North Moravia. The dam is 305.49 hectares large; 286.70 hectares are inundated at the upper reach. The main objective of the dam is to shield the country from floods. The dam is also used as a reservoir of drinking water for the Opava Region, it helps to facilitate the flow rate of the river Odra and its water-power is used by the hydroelectric power plant in Podhradí.

The dam also provides drinking water for the Opava and Vítkov Region and it is a fishing resort. Swimming and water sports are not allowed here.

Kružberská prehrada je druhým nejvetším vodním dílem na severu Moravy. Rozloha prehrady ciní 305,49 hektaru, z cehož je pri nejvyšší hladine zatopeno 286,70 hektaru. Hlavním úcelem prehrady je chránit pred povodnemi. Dále slouží jako zásobárna pitné vody pro Ostravsko, zlepšuje prutok v rece Odre a predává vodní sílu elektrárne v Podhradí.

Prehrada zásobuje vodou také Opavsko a Vítkovsko. Je využívána k rybolovu. Koupání a vodní sporty jsou zde zakázány.
