Rathmines, on the western side of Lake Macquarie, has quite a history of being a military dispatch area.

This printed metal sign is near a recreational Boat Ramp, which used to be a Depot during World War Two. The sign reads:

"Marine Repair Depot
"The slipway and vessel repair building was utilised to overhaul and maintain the multitude of marine craft necessary to service the Flying Boat Station. It was destroyed by fire in mid 1945."

If it is a fine day, you may have to wait to get in, as it is a busy area.
