An abstract sculpture of ten randomly arranged reinforced concrete "logs" placed vertically and horizontally alongside of rest area.
Fabricated while the artist was serving as an artist-in-residence with the Upper Valley Development and Training Center. The sculptor participated in the Artists-in-the-Schools program, funded by the National Endowment for the Arts and managed by the New Hampshire Commission on the Arts. Local community businesses matched the government funding by providing materials and equipment. The artist was assisted by disabled clients of the Upper Valley Development and Training Center in the fabrication of the sculpture. IAS files contain transcription of artist's statement that is posted on the wall of the Rest Area building. Artist's statement lists names of community businesses that helped to match the government funding as well as the names of those clients and staff that assisted with its fabrication. IAS files contain related articles from The Union Leader (Manchester, New Hampshire), Oct. 29, 1980, pg. 7; and New Hampshire Highways, 35 (December 1980): pg. 12-13. The sculpture was designed to be played on.
