Waste water treatment from Ostrava is provided from 98.7% to the Mechanical-Biological Central Waste Water Treatment Plant in Ostrava-Prívoze.
The Central Wastewater Treatment Plant in Ostrava-Prívoz, which was put into operation in 1996, gradually replaced the obsolete and already significantly overloaded sewage treatment plants in Prívoz, Trebovice and Zábreh. The concept of cleaning is based on the mechanical and biological cleaning of sewage and industrial waters on the principle of low-loading activation with nitrification and pre-denitrification.
With its capacity of 638,850 equivalent inhabitants, it will enable the development of the city in the years to come.
What is the capacity of the facility?: average flow 186 600 m³ / 24 hours (2017)

Describe the biological treatment technology used.:
The concept of cleaning is based on the mechanical and biological cleaning of sewage and industrial waters on the principle of low-loading activation with nitrification and pre-denitrification. Anaerobically stabilized sludge is drained on centrifuges with an automated process control system and is hygienised by lime.

How are biosolids (sludge) managed?: The sewage sludge is stabilized in the digestion tanks, then densifies, drains and then weighed for further processing. Sludge stabilizes sludge, which is used for heating or power generation.

What technology is used for disinfection prior to dicharge of treated water?: no desinfection - treated water is released to Odra river

Who is the owner/operator fo the facility?: Ostravské vodárny a kanalizace a.s. (OVAK a.s.)

How is the facility governed?: http://www.ovak.cz/index.php?structure=1&lang=1#a2

What is the website of the WWTP?: [Web Link]
