It is thought to have been named after the postman Freddie Hawkins, who would deliver mail to the remote community in the 1930's. (And, incorrectly attributed to the Minister for Lands in the 1950's Harold Hawkins.)
Hawkins Lookout
Wisemans Ferry section of the Hawkesbury River
It is a bit of a sharp turn-in off from Old Northern Road, so slow down earlier. There is enough parking for a dozen cars, and a safety-railed lookout platform to look towards the Wisemans Ferry. Which you may see in action.
