Wymondham Abbey (St Mary and St Thomas of Canterbury Church) dates from 1107 and is the Anglican parish church of Wymondham, Norfolk.

"The Norman church was originally shared between the parish and the monks of the Benedictine priory (later abbey) founded by William d'Aubigny. The abbey was closed by King Henry VIII in 1538. The monastic buildings, including the chancel and transepts, were gradually taken down, leaving the nave and aisles we see today.

The church is open daily (times vary) throughout the year and our volunteer stewards will give you a warm welcome. The Abbey shop sells a wide range of informative literature (including our new Souvenir Guide), cards and religious items. See the parish website for details of our weekday and Sunday services, children's activities, etc. Visitors come from across the world to see the Abbey's magnificent Norman nave, angel roof, historic Georgian organ, and gilded screen designed by Sir Ninian Comper."
