The plaque says, "The trail begins 0.3 mile beyond this point and winds along an old military defense road. A unique plant community-coastal sage scrub-covers the steep slopes.

As you hike, be alert to the changing topography and its effect on the vegetation. If you walk quietly, you will have a better chance of spotting wildlife"
