The plaque says, "Across the channel and to your left is North Island Naval Air Station. From here you can watch many of the aircraft of the U.S. Navy's Pacific Fleet, as well as other branches of the Armed Force and the U.S. Coast Guard, as they take off and land. The photos to your right will help you identify some of the aircraft commonly seen."
