The plaque reads:

Lest they be forgotten...on July 4, 2010, this sculpture
was presented by the FDNY to the AVFD in honor of the
343 firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty
September 11, 2001.

The steel piece was taken from the rubble of the
World Trade Center's North Tower and cut to represent
the locations of the impacts of the planes.

A piece of World Trade Center steel from the North Tower has been cut into a likeness of the Twin Towers and mounted outside the Aspen Fire Station. Solid bands on each tower indicate the point of impact of American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175.
