This monument is located at Zachary Taylor National Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky. It is dedicated to the First Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force.
During the Second World War the First Marines fought at Guadalcanal, Gloucester and Peleliu and Okinawa.
In Korea they fought in battles including Inchon, Seouol and Samichon River. In Vietnam they fought in several operations including Starlite, Swift and Allen Brook.
