The sign reads:
The Adelaide Brige was errected under the supervision of the city engeneer, Mr. J.L.Hyndman. It was opened & Named by his Excellency the Administrator, Sir W.W.Cairns, K.C.M.G., on April 25th 1877. The Bridge, 100 feed long & 54 feet wide, provided a roadway 40 feet wide & footpaths 7 feet wide.
