The Gateway Clock Tower, located in the heart of the old Cornwall Canal, forges a symbolic link with Cornwall's past and future. This tower, which houses the 1883 Post Office clock, was dedicated on Victoria Day, May 18, 1992.
It is a large round clock face with black-coloured minute and five-minute markers in Roman numeral numbers. There are clocks on each of the four sides of the tower. Almost 41 feet to its peak, the green copper cornice represents the cornice profile of the original Post Office.
On the street level floor, the original clock mechanism is enclosed in a glass compartment for public viewing.
