The grave of Walter Atanas has a 3' high statue of a golfer wearing a cap, collarless shirt and gold shoes. The golfer is holding a driver vertically with both hands. A ball is teed up and a bag of golf clubs is by his side. Adjacent to the statue is a rectangular red granite block which is inscribed:

Walter Atanas was born in Hamilton, Ontario. He played right wing for the New York Rangers from 1944 to 1945. Most of his career was spent playing in the American Hockey League and the United States Hockey League. He worked as a scout for the Philadelphia Flyers from 1972 until his death in 1991.
