The Heller Estate. Walter Heller, Once a regular at the nearby Tallac Resort, purchased this property from the Popes and built his own luxury estate here in 1923. "Valhalla means "heavenly place." The names was chosen by the family to reflect their Scandinavian heritage and the lush beauty of the site. After many happy summers here, the family sold the estate in 1955 and it changed hands several times. Owners included the South Tahoe Valhalla Corporation, a boat and social club. The US Forest service purchased the estate in 1971.
