The Battle of Gaines' Mill took place on June 27, 1862. It was the third of the Seven Days Battles of the Peninsula Campaign. The Union Army under Generals Commanders and leaders George McClellanand Fitz John Porter had 6,837 casualties (894 killed, 3,107 wounded, 2,836 missing or captured). The Confederate Army of Northern Virginia under General Robert E. Lee had 7,993 casualties (1,483 killed, 6,402 wounded, 108 missing or captured).
