Meall na Teanga (Lump of the Tongue), is a 3010 foot, 917 metre high summit on the western edge of the Great Glen in the highlands of Scotland. It qualifies by ten feet as a 3000 foot Munro and is usually climbed together with its neighbouring mountain Sron a' Choire Ghairbh which lies to the north over the Càm Bhealach where the quickest way to both mountains begins.

There are two routes to the bealach, the quicker from Kilfinnan from the north-east, and from Gleann Cia-aig from the south-west.

From its neighbours slopes to the north, Meall na Teanga appears as a pointed peak. It is surrounded by steep slopes and corries, although the summit cairn is situated on a fairly level ridge running north to south. A fine view of Ben Nevis and its surrounding peaks lies to the south.

STEEPNESS:The route from the bealach is straight up following a well trodden path which crosses the corner of the adjoining Meall Dubh before levelling slightly before the steep pull up the north face which heads relatively quickly to the summit.

TERRAIN: The Kilfinnan route to the bealach follows a path, but from Gleann Cia-aig the last couple of miles are on trackless grass and heather. From the bealach the route up follows a path carved out of the hillside by many pairs of feet all the way to the summit.

ACCESSIBILITY: Around four and a half miles from Kilfinnan and a couple more longer from Gleann Cia-aig. It is possible however to head back to Gleann Cia-aig from the summit westwards along a connecting ridge over Meall Coire Lochain, which rules out having to return to the bealach.

NAVIGATION: The faint path up the mountainside helps to reach the summit in mist, which is easier from Kilfinnan than the trackless route from the west.

DANGER: The Gleann Cia-aig route in mist, otherwise a patch of snow that lingers on the north face into early summer and has to be crossed by the route up. It takes roughly ten steps to cross, but can be unnerving due to the slope of the ground.

Altitude in Feet: 3010
