Jahrhundert stammen."

EN:
"The Catholic parish church St. Sebastianus in Dorsel, a local community in the district of Ahrweiler (Rhineland-Palatinate), was already built in the Middle Ages and is dedicated to St. Sebastian. The church is a protected monument.

Narrative

The first evidence of a church in Dorsel dates back to 1316 and the medieval tower, with a wall more than two metres thick, could also have been used as a fortified tower. The tower has a low, sharply folded roof.

The nave was built in the 20th century and is connected to the old tower. The flat ceiling is bevelled at the sides. The row of abstract lead glass windows on the south side give the interior a colourful light.
accoutrement
The main altar, an altar of the Virgin Mary, and the two side altars date from around 1700; the basalt lava baptismal font, partly set into the southern wall of the tower, is said to date from the 13th century".
