The Khachkar (Cross Stone) was made by a renowned artist in Armenia and was consecrated by a priest of the Armenian Church. For the Armenians, who live here in Germany in the Diaspora, the new Khachkar symbolizes their tradition and culture as well as their roots in their new homeland. He also stands for the memory of the victims of the genocide 100 years ago.
The Armenian Genocide, also known as the Armenian Holocaust, was the Ottoman government's systematic extermination of 1.5 million Armenians, mostly citizens within the Ottoman Empire in 1915.
