Indian Campaigns Medal of Honor Recipient for action at Cedar Springs, AZ on May 11, 1889. He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Section 1, Site 630-B. He was disinterred from Arizona State Hospital Cemetery, Phoenix AZ in March 2009.

He was born on February 16, 1858 in Carters Bridge, VA and died on May 2, 1925 in Phoenix, AZ. He was a Buffalo Soldier. His Medal of Honor information and citation is:
MAYS, ISAIAH
• Rank and organization: Corporal, Company B, 24th U.S. Infantry
• Place and date: Arizona, 11 May 1889
• Entered service at: Columbus Barracks, Ohio
• Date of issue: 19 February 1890
Citation: Gallantry in the fight between Paymaster Wham's escort and robbers. Mays walked and crawled 2 miles to a ranch for help.
