Outside the Logan County Courthouse is a statue called "Survivor of the Plains". It depicts a life size coyote.
This is a bronze statue that is mounted on native stone.
The statue was sculpted by Charles Norton, a local artist from Leoti, Kansas.
The statue commemorates the Logan County and City of Oakley Centennial. The plaque in front displays the dates 1887-1987.
The statue was dedicated on Sept. 18, 1987.
It is realistic enough that I once had a dog who thought it was another dog and would growl at it.
The statue is located at 710 W 2nd.
One way to get here is to take Highway 83 to 2nd Street. Turn East onto 2nd. You will see the Courthouse just after the hospital. It will be to your left.
This is part of my Lost Series of geocaches and Waymarks. This location represents episode 41 "The Whole Truth".
