Very little information about this ancient church.

The Parish Church Sainte Madeleine is a religious building of Catholic confession built in the village of the old Eyguians in the department of Hautes-Alpes.

This church was built at the end of the sixteenth century, but for Eyguians, the real revolution occurs in the 1840s. The road to the Col de la Croix-Haute has just opened, borrowed by stagecoaches. Bridges are thrown on Buëch, including Pont-Lagrand. At the edge of the river grow an inn, a mill, a sawmill, a church ... Until then, there were only a few isolated farms. "This is where the decay of old Eyguians begins. Some families resist. But the state will give the coup de grace. To enforce the Mountain Reforestation Act, he buys a number of properties. In 1902, the village is considered abandoned.

the Sainte-Madeleine church restored in 1983, with cedar beams from the nearby forest, whose dark stones probably come from black limestones of Eyguians; it has always suffered moisture: besides, you can still see in front of the church a basin fed by a captured spring.
Date the Church was built, dedicated or cornerstone laid: 12/31/1600
