Rush Springs is located along Highway 81 in Grady County. A post office was established here in 1892, and the town was incorporated in 1898. Rush Springs is known as the "Watermelon Capital of the World" and each August, a festival attracts up to 30,000 people for a craft show, rides, food and fun, and a whole lot of watermelon eating.

The town hall is located at 315 W. Blakely Avenue in the downtown area, in a storefront building with a wood canopy. The police department is also located here. The town does not have a web address. It is governed by a Mayor and a City Manager. Approximately 15 employees work at this location, with a total of 35 town employees altogether. The town offices are open Mon-Fri from 9:00 to 4:45.
