This statue is called "Spirit of the American Doughboy" and honors the doughboy troops of World War I.
This is one of only three statues in Kansas that was sculpted by Ernest Moore "Dick" Viquesney.
The statue was dedicated on May 4, 1923.
The statue is located off of Hudson Ave. and East 2nd. You can take Highway 83 and turn on 2nd street. You are going east on 2nd. The statue is located at 2nd and Hudson. Or if you are on the main street (Center) it is one block east on 2nd.
This is part of my Lost series of Geocaches and Waymarks. This location represents episode 102/103 "The Incident" which posed the question "What lies in the shadow of the statue?" The answer to the question, "He who will save us all."
