The grave of Pvt. Joseph Taylor is marked by a granite military headstone and a granite horizontal grave marker. The headstone is inscribed in gold with an image of the Medal of Honor and the following inscription:

Joseph Taylor was born in England on September 22, 1837 (both markers have the wrong date). He came to America and joined the Union Army and fought in the Civil War. On August 18, 1865, during the siege of Petersburg, he was engaged in the Battle of Globe Tavern, also known as the Second Battle of the Weldon Railroad, south of Petersburg, VA when, according to his Medal of Honor citation:
"While acting as an orderly to a general officer on the field and alone, encountered a picket of 3 of the enemy and compelled their surrender."
For his valor in battle he was awarded the Medal of Honor on July 20, 1897. Joseph Taylor died on February 16, 1912 at age 74 (again, both markers have the wrong date).
