FR L'Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière (IGN) est un établissement public français à caractère administratif ayant pour mission d'assurer la production, l'entretien et la diffusion de l'information géographique de référence en France.
Pour remplir cette mission, de très nombreux repères de nivellement ont été positionnés à travers la France. Ils ont des formes diverses mais l'un des plus courant est une rond de bronze portant la mention "Nivellement Général IGN".
Au centre, suivant le modèle, on voit, si le repère est encore en bon état, son altitude et son niveau de précision.
Ici on peut encore lire Altitude 1145 m +- 1m (le +- est effacé mais on le devine ... quand on connait ce type de repère).
On peut trouver un peu partout ce type de repère mais l'IGN ayant le souhait de la pérennité des mesures les a placé sur des endroits qui connaissent peu d'évolutions : mairies, église, pont, bâtiments publics, ...
Ici, c'est sur le mur sud d ela mairie que j'ai photographié ce repère avec son altitude.
EN The National Institute of Geographical and Forest Information (IGN) is a French public administrative body whose mission is to ensure the production, maintenance and dissemination of geographical reference information in France.
To fulfill this mission, many benchmarks have been positioned across France. They have various shapes but one of the most common is a bronze round with the mention "General IGN Leveling".
In the center, according to the model, we see, if the mark is still in good condition, its altitude and its level of precision.
Here we can still read Altitude 1145 m + - 1m (the + - is erased but we guess ... when we know this type of marker).
You can find everywhere this type of landmark but the IGN having the wish of the durability of the measures placed them on places which know little evolutions: town halls, church, bridge, public buildings, ...
Here, it is on the south wall of the town hall that I photographed this landmark with its altitude.
