Set in the sidewalk about two feet from street level. If facing the park, it is on the left hand side.

Huntsville, Texas is the county seat of Walker County. It is located on Interstate 45, 70 miles north of Houston and 170 miles south of Dallas. Sam Houston, the first President of the Republic of Texas lived in the area from late 1840s until his death in 1863. Houston is buried in Huntsville's Oakwood Cemetery.
