There are two sundials located in the Riverview Park and Zoo in Peterborough Ontario. They are located side-by-side in the xeriscape gardens area, just outside of the Park and Zoo Office building.
The more prominent sundial of the two is a horizontal style mounted on a waist-height pedestal. The coordinates for this waymark point to this sundial. "RIVERVIEW PARK & ZOO 1993" is stamped onto the face of the dial. A plaque on the sundial base says the dial was donated by the Canadian Foresters, Court Peterborough No 29, 1992.
The more easily-overlooked sundial is an analemmatic type dial, which is integrated into the pathway. For this type, the visitor stands at a certain position (based on date of visit) and looks to where their shadow is cast. The "hour" markers are also flush paving stones integrated into the walkway. Unfortunately I did get take very good photos of this sundial.
Riverview park and Zoo offers free admission and parking. It is open year-round, 8:30 am to dusk. A map of the zoo (which includes the location of the sundials) is found here: (
