The Battle of Kapyong
Battle of Kapyong, 22-25 April, 1951
As the Allied forces fought against the Chinese troops in the Kapyong Valley, the Korean army had to pull back, leaving 3RAR (Royal Australian Regiment) exposed on Hill 504, with New Zealand artillery as support. With heavy casualties and being outnumbered, they withdrew to the British 27th Brigade position. The overnight fighting slowed the Chinese advance, and it was acknowledged that the Australian and Canadian forces were significant in preventing a breakthrough, and ultimately allowing the capture of Seoul.
