la paroisse de Chabestan était sous le vocable de saint Cassien. L'église paroissiale ayant été incendiée pendant les guerres de religion, on transféra la paroisse dans la chapelle du prieuré où elle se trouvait encore en 1685. En 1708, l'église paroissiale avait été reconstruite sens le vocable de saint Barthélemy et on y avait fondé une chapelle sous le titre de Notre-Dame de Chantrousse. En 1670, Jacques Amat, seigneur de Chabestan. fit construire dans son château une chapelle dédiée à saint Antoine de Padoue. Les dames du prieuré de Nossage (voir Lagrand), qui dépendaient de l'abbaye de Souribes, percevaient, au XIVe siècle, quelques revenus dans cette communauté.
Le prieuré de Chabestan, sous le titre de Saint-Sauveur ou de Notre-Dame de la Val-d'Oze, existait en 1247, et dépendait, dès 1329, du prieuré conventuel de Romette, près Gap, qui appartint d'abord à l'abbaye de Bréma puis à celle de Saint-Victor. Le prieur de Romette était collateur de la cure et principal décimateur de la paroisse qui dépendit de l'archiprêtré du Gapençais jusqu'au XVIIe siècle et fut alors uni à celui du Rosanais.

the parish of Chabestan was under the name of Saint Cassian. The parish church was burned during the wars of religion, the parish was transferred to the chapel of the priory where it was still in 1685. In 1708, the parish church had been rebuilt in the sense of Saint Bartholomew and there was founded a chapel under the title of Our Lady of Chantrousse. In 1670, Jacques Amat, lord of Chabestan. built in his castle a chapel dedicated to St. Anthony of Padua. The ladies of the priory of Nossage (see Lagrand), who depended on the Abbey of Souribes, perceived, in the fourteenth century, some revenues in this community.
The priory of Chabestan, under the title of Saint-Sauveur or Notre-Dame de la Val-d'Oze, existed in 1247, and depended, from 1329, the conventual priory of Romette, near Gap, which belonged first to the abbey of Bréma then to that of Saint-Victor. The prior of Romette was collector of the cure and principal decimator of the parish which depended on the archpriest of the Gapençais until the XVIIe century and was then united with that of the Rosanais.
