The main body of the Byzantine styled Church is built of red bricks, with brick buttresses. The Livingstone Street (front) side is rendered a bone colour with white highlights for mouldings of the semi-circular arch over the portico.

There are tall Bell Towers on either side of the Portico that has three arches for the entry to the foyer. The Towers have tall and broad openings on each of the four sides (possibly 3m x 1m wide), and, a probably waist high enclosed railing with three perforations on at least three sides. Each Tower has a eight-sided copper-clad cupola with a metal cross atop about 2 metres high from the square Tower. Each Tower has three bells, with the centre one being the larger diameter, and the ones to the north and south being a bit smaller.

The white marble tablet Foundation Stone in the portico of the Church That was laid 6th June 1965.

There is also a black marble Dedication Stone from 1975, which is written in Greek, so I won't try to transcribe it. [A photo will be included]

The history of the St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church starts with the Post World War Two influx of immigrants, with many settling in the Marrickville area in the 1950's. The Foundation Stone was lain on 6th June, 1965. There is a possible discrepancy in the Church's website, as to when the Church opened: Officially with His Grace Bishop Dionysios of Nazianzos on 3rd October 1966, or/and with a public Opening on 9 October 1965! There is a polished black marble tablet in the portico for the Consecration of the Church by His Eminence Archbishop Stylianos of Australia on 15th June 1975. There is a thumbnail photo of the '1965' Opening on the website: Parish History [Probably mislabeled, and I would think it suit be 1966.]
