The weathervane is on top of the bandstand dedicated to the bandsmen of the RMS Titanic.The bandstand was built in 1915 as a memorial to the sinking of the Titanic and to her heroic musicians who played as they went down with their ship. It commemorates the bandsmen who played sacred music (Nearer My God to Thee) on the deck of the "Titanic" as this liner slowly sank after a collision with an iceberg. The bandstand is the only one in the world dedicated to the Titanic musicians
