Thurcaston & Cropston Parish Council have installed a wooden planter situated on the corner of Cropston Road/Station Road in Cropston, and have honoured it to the memory of Flight Lieutenant Rakesh Chauhan of Cropston who was tragically killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan in April 2014. A brass commemorative plaque has been placed on the planter.
The plaque reads:
In Honour of
FLIGHT LIEUTENANT
RAKESH CHAUHAN
of Cropston
who was killed in Afghanistan
whilst serving his country
1985 - 2014
The planter has been planted with Lavender from RAF Odiham where Rakesh was stationed.
