Bison Sculpture - Waukomis, OK - Figurative Public Sculpture on Waymarking.com

While driving around the town, and just leaving the two water standpipes at the end of the road, we stopped with wonder at this absolutely beautiful setting and its bronze sculpture. The bison is located on private property but the sculpture and its setting can be thoroughly enjoyed by viewing from the road.

The large bronze sculpture is at least life-sized - perhaps heroic-sized. It's hard to tell with bison. He is standing on a platform of sandstone blocks perhaps five or six feet high. His head is leaning forward as if he were drinking from the water, which cascades over the stones into a pond. Behind the bison is a lovely vineyard. The beauty of the setting enhances the majesty of this beautiful creature. You feel like you are peeking into a moment in his life.
