Stone, bronze
Strathcona's Folly is intended to encourage us to consider the cycle of life. It is constructed using real pieces of local architectural history like adult size toy building blocks. There are pieces of the Institut Jeanne D'arc, a Convent on Sussex Dr. (1), stone faces from a branch of the Bank of Montreal (2), balustrades from the Chateau Laurier Hotel (3), bits of the Royal Canadian Mint (5), the Capitol Theatre (6), the Windsor-Duvernay Hotel (7), the Parliament Buildings (8), bronze rosettes from the Daly Building (9), and even one of the old swing seats from the park (4).
