Another artefact of the town's industrial history, these coal cars are an added attraction for those who choose to stop at the visitor centre.

This string of four old wood sided cars sit outside the visitor centre, behind a Hudswell Clark diesel mine locomotive and beside the oil derrick. Like the locomotive, we can't say which of the many coal companies used these cars, but the largest was also the first, the The Crow's Nest Pass Coal Company, and it could well have been them.

Given that the cars are built primarily of wood they could be some of the original cars a given Crowsnest Pass mine put into use. The first coal mine to open in the pass, the aforementioned Crow's Nest Pass Coal Company, commenced operations in 1897, telling us that these cars could be as old as that.
