Rotary International traces its roots back to 23 February 1905, when the Rotary Club of Chicago was established by Chicago attorney Paul P. Harris. the
Rotary name came from the group’s early practice of rotating meetings among the offices of each member. Today a benevolent association of over 1.2 million members in over 34,000 member clubs worldwide, Rotary International provides humanitarian services all over the world.
This clock, standing in Chocolate Park on the south side of Milltown Boulevard, is freestanding, mounted atop a tall and slender fluted steel shaft. The round clock itself is double faced, with rotary emblems on each face, Roman Numeral numbers and a decorative iron plate atop with the word
CENTENNIAL in white. Clock, shaft and base below are all painted black.
On the ground to one side of the base is an engraved red granite stone with the following text:
