A masonry building which was originally constructed as a water tower
and fire house, the Confederate Memorial Museum is a circular structure entered through a single arched doorway. Built in I883 by the town of Columbus, over 400,000 handmade bricks were used in fashioning the 32" thick walls. A long narrow arched window stretches above the doorway. The crenelation was added when the water tower was removed. The structure has been adapted for use as a meeting hall (first floor) and
library (second floor) by the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
