Das Kriegerdenkmal
Das nach einem Entwurf des Kölner Architekten und Bildhauers Franz Brantzky geschaffene Kriegerdenkmal der Stadt Sinzig wurde am 5. Juli 1931 auf dem Absatz der zur Kirche führenden Freitreppe feierlich eingeweiht.
Der scheinbar in Richtung Frankreich blickende, von einem Pfeil tödlich getroffene Löwe beherrscht die Gedenkstätte. Die Tafeln mit den Namen von 137 Kriegstoten des I. Weltkrieges wurden bereits wenige Jahre um die Namen von rund 300 Gefallenen und Kriegsteilnehmern des II. Weltkrieges erweitert. Davon zeugen Nachträge: 1938 HUB. SCHNEIDER / 1950 MATTH. SCHEUER / 1956 KARL SCHRÖDER / 1958 FRANZ JERGA, THEODOR SCHULTE.
Auf 96 Tafeln sind die Namen von 288 Toten des II. Weltkrieges aufgeführt. - Die Anzahl der Toten wird unterschiedlich angegeben, je nachdem, ob zivile Opfer, Kriegsgefangene oder in Sinzig getötete Auswärtige mitgezählt werden.

The monument to the war victims of Sinzig
The war memorial
The war memorial of the city of Sinzig, created after a design by the Cologne architect and sculptor Franz Brantzky, was inaugurated on July 5, 1931, on the landing of the staircase leading to the church.
The lion, apparently dead in the direction of France and killed by an arrow, dominates the memorial. The plates with the names of 137 war dead of the First World War have already been extended for a few years to include the names of around 300 killed and combatants of the Second World War. Evidence of this addendum: 1938 HUB. CUTTER / 1950 MATTH. SCHEUER / 1956 KARL SCHRÖDER / 1958 FRANZ JERGA, THEODOR SCHULTE.
On 96 panels the names of 288 dead of the Second World War are listed. - The number of deaths is different, depending on whether civilian casualties, prisoners of war or in Sinzig killed foreigners are counted.
