I recovered this municipal water tank in good condition. First observed by the National Geodetic Survey in 1972, this water tank is one of two structures that survive today from when Corvallis Airport was once a WWII Army Air Corps training base. This water tank is still in good condition.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1972 (LDF) THE STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 4 MILES SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF CORVALLIS, 3/4 MILE WEST OF U.S. HIGHWAY 99W AND AT THE CORVALLIS MUNICIPAL AIRPORT. THE STATION IS THE CENTER OF THE TOP OF A 150 FOOT HIGH TANK, SUPPORTED BY 4 LEGS AND PAINTED CHECKERED RED AND WHITE.

RECOVERY NOTE BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1977 (JVD) THIS INTERSECTION STATION WAS RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION AS ORIGINALLY DESCRIBED. AIRLINE DISTANCE AND DIRECTION FROM NEAREST TOWN AT THE AIRPORT.

RECOVERY NOTE BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1989 THIS INTERSECTION STATION IS LOCATED IN THE NORTHERN SECTION OF THE CORVALLIS MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE ENTRANCE ROAD TO THE HANGAR AREA. IT IS 800 FT (243.8 M) SOUTH OF THE EAST-WEST SECTION OF THE ENTRANCE ROAD, 150 EAST OF THE NORTH-SOUTH SECTION OF THE ENTRANCE ROAD, 772 FT (235.3 M) NORTHEAST OF THE NORTH CORNER OF THE MAIN AND LARGEST HANGAR. THE TANK IS MOUNTED ON 4 LEGS WITH A LARGE CENTER PIPE. THE TANK AND TOWER IS PAINTED IN ALTERNATE SECTIONS OF RED AND WHITE AND IS ABOUT 140 FT (42.7 M) HIGH. THE POINT INTERSECTED WAS THE OBSTRUCTION LIGHT ON TOP AND CENTER. NOTE, QUAD 1441231 STA 1048.
