On July 21, 1944, the No. 37 (Bomber) Squadron of RAF (visit link) carried out an air raid on the David Fanto mineral oil refinery in Pardubice on the territory of Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia (visit link) .

Two Vickers Wellington aircrafts were shot down during the crossing the territory of Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia during a flight from airbase in Italy. One of these crafts was Vickers Wellington Mk.X, JA-521 (LF-U). The airplane would be shot down near the Stošíkovice village.

The crew was consisted:
- Captain P/O Francis B.Newmarch
- Navigator F/O John D. Vaizey
- Radio operator Sgt. Bena Naylo
- Bombardier Sgt.Normana E. Green
- Gunman Sgt. James W. T. Goodwin

The monument is located in centre of Stošíkovice village

V odpoledních hodinách dne 21.cervence 1944 byla RAF pripravena se svými bombardovacími letouny typu Vickers Wellington B Mk.X napadnout rafinérii minerálních oleju firmy David Fanto v Pardubicích. Z leteckých základen v Itálii po dvacáté hodine vzlétlo 101 plne natankovaných stroju. Pri letu k cíli byly na našem území sestreleny dva letouny.

První havaroval u jihomoravské obce Stošíkovice.Byl to letoun sériového císla JA521 LF-U ze sestavy 37.bombardovací squadrony.Wellington byl težce zasažen palbou nemecké protiletadlové obrany, nerízený stroj se v plamenech zrítil do vypušteného bahnitého rybníku severovýchodne od obce. Celá posádka zahynula v troskách stroje. Jednalo se o>
- kapitána letounu P/O Francise B.Newmarcha
- navigátora F/O Johna D.Vaizeye
- radistu Sgt. Bena Naylora
- bombometcíka Sgt.Normana E.Greena
- palubního strelce Sgt. Jamese W. T. Goodwina.

Cást trosek letounu byla vyzdvižena v roce 1966. Posádka byla nezvestná až do roku 1990, kdy se povedlo LHS Vyškov za podpory britského velvyslanectví a místních úradu nálezt ostatky letcu. Ty byli se všemi poctami pohrbeni na britském vojenském hrbitove v Praze-Olšanech.
